The Bible’s had one of the greatest impacts on our world of all books ever written. It’s a fantastic book to read and discuss. Yet, few people read it for themselves. Come and share insights from this fascinating and compelling book. Come and learn from its ancient wisdom. Come and find out about Jesus it’s central focus. Come and get to know God for yourself.

Biblegroups are small friendly groups of people who want to understand the Bible better by reading it for themselves.
Groups vary in size from three people to about 10. Groups usually run for 8-10 weeks during school terms and are completely free. You can just come for a week and check it out and you can join and leave at any time. You don’t need to have any background knowledge of the Bible or Christianity, you only need to be able to read. If English is not your first language we aim to have groups for you. There may even be a group in a foreign language you speak.
These groups are ideal for you if you are new to reading the Bible or have found it hard to read and understand it for yourself.
They are a bit like a book club where the book is the Bible. Groups meet in various locations; pubs and clubs, schools, churches and people’s homes. There are groups for men, women, twenty-somethings, mature learners, etc ... Some groups even offer childminding. When you come to a group you will be welcomed, listened to and respected. The group leader will give everyone an opportunity to share what they notice from the Bible and what questions they have. Discussion about the reading is encouraged but you won’t be asked to speak if you don’t want to. You will be encouraged to make your own discoveries from the Bible.
The aim of these groups is to help you to read and understand what the Bible says so you can make your own informed decisions.
The skills taught are the same skills taught in any book club. Groups are usually fun, informal and quite social, though the leader will aim to keep the discussion on track. Many groups continue to chat over a cuppa and food after the meeting finishes. The leaders of the groups are Christians who regularly attend a church in Sydney. They are trained volunteers who enjoy learning from the Bible and want to help other people to benefit from what they have learned. You don’t need to be Christian or to go to a particular Church to join. You will be welcomed and respected whatever cultural or religious background you come from.
